About Lost in Translation
Lost In Translation is an optimal translation I’m making for myself and my friends. I’m writing it using an interlinear, doing the best I can to walk the line of literal/ meaning/ and readability. My end goals are two things:
To keep my theology consistent with what scripture says, I frequently cross check my work with other versions such as the YLT, NASB, ESV, LEB, and CJB.
I’ve also opted to include certain texts from the Second Temple period. While I don’t believe they’re canon, I do believe they are essential for a fuller understanding of scripture.
If you have any concerns or questions about something I’ve translated or changed, feel free to contact me. This translation is by no means finished, and is still subject to change.
- To make the reader stop and ponder what is being said. To accomplish this, I’ve exchanged some words for others; eg. Christ ↠ Messiah. I’ve also reverted the names of God back to their Hebrew versions, and for the Greek 'Theos' I opted for the generic 'Elohim.'
- Stay true to the authorial intent. I want to capture to the fullest the meaning behind what the author used by each word and phrase.
